Who do you perceive yourself to be?
Ask yourself these questions:
Am I the reflection I see in the mirror? Am I the body I see and feel? Am I the colour of the hair, the character of the face? Am I the skin I'm in?
Am I the name/s given to me? Am I my occupation? Is who I am the sibling/father/mother/aunt/uncle/grandparent/child of 'my' family?
Am I what I see, think and feel?
Am I the emotions I have?
Am I what I do and therefore what I don't do?
I'd love to hear your answers.

How do you find your inner peace when you look in the mirror and see someone else starring back at you but deep down you know you can change but just can't find the strenght?
Adam
Blessings, Adam. In answer to your question: We only need to love what is, to be the strength of love itself. When we resist or go to war with ourselves internally we find it very hard to be in peace. The battle becomes long and wearying. The ego makes us seem as though our lives are split in two, it’s what’s termed duality. There is the person we see on the surface which is reflected in the mirror, there is the reactive emotions, the constant clutter and story going on in the mind, there is the thinking process of how we should or shouldn’t be. On the other side of this, is peace and joy and simple bliss; loving life, embracing every aspect of ourselves and others, being the being of love. A lot of the time we live in this duality, being either one or the other part of ourselves. Dual living saps the strength out of us, it makes us weak because there’s a lot of hard work living two existences; one instance of being the spiritual being, and in another instance being the egoic being. What allows the change from living in duality is practicing stillness. This doesn’t mean necessarily sitting in the lotus position saying mantra’s. Stillness and meditation can be as simple as while filling a glass with water, we quiet the mind and the constant story the ego tells us, allowing the spirit mind to be at the forefront of our thinking. Every time you have an emotional reaction to an experience, stop and breath for a moment, focus on nothing more than the breath in and out. This is stillness, quiet and peaceful where nothing of the ego penetrates. To be working say, at hammering nails, we can be singing and be in perfect stillness, enjoying the moment for what it is. Don’t let the ego tell you the story that you should be anything but what you are, because what you are is a being having a physical experience that ultimately will allow you to know love of all things. If you have a moment where you feel you’ve been unloving, it is the loving part of yourself that knows this, therefore you are loving without having changed a thing. If you were not a loving being you’d not have felt the unloving moment. You only know what love is, because you are love. The only thing you need to change is your perception of who you are, because you are an absolute loving being and that never changes, this other ‘person’ you see or don’t see, when you look in the mirror is only the reflection the ego wants you to see and tells you, you need to change to become. The true reality is that you are already the absolute loving being and nothing can change that. Look inside, through stillness and you will find the real you which is ever peaceful.

What a beautiful answer to Adam about love and that what it comes down to is that we all are really Love and accepting ourselves completely and fully in that and the stillness in helping the Higher Self/mind come through.
Well put and the "essence" of the deep message comes beautifully across in your post. I would love to more about you, your spiritual background and your present work. It's wonderful, rich, supportive! Thanks for sharing it and making a difference.

Blessings Katy and thank you for your lovely message. My spiritual background: over years have studied many different spiritual philosophies: Eastern and New age theories and philosophy alike. It is my personal philosophy derived from this study and my own personal development that when the mind is clear, still and quiet it allows balance of mind, body and soul through the sustenance of the soul. A balanced being is harmonious and peace the residing position within, when we clear the clutter/chatter of the story our emotional mind tells us. We develop a greater sense of self the more we awaken and align ourselves within harmonious balance. It is in the development of ourselves through this alignment/balance that we begin to see all others as ourselves and the true beauty of every individual bringing the total of individualism to ONE WHOLE. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder for beauty is seen in its pure simplicity of LOVE. There is no individual who is not within the beauty of the eye that sees through LOVE.
I live by the quote of the founder of Taoism, Lao Tzu - "Give a Man a Fish, Feed Him For a Day. Teach a Man to Fish, Feed Him For a Lifetime"
We are all teachers and we all have the capacity to learn from each other. We are all ONE, we are WHOLE, it is only when we do not know this that we think we are broken and need fixing.
I am devoted to being a presence of peace and helping others recognize their own inner peace and live within their own harmonic balance. Embracing themselves, who they are/we are; to stop the cycle of guilt from the past and begin living anew with a new perspective of and within each and every experience. I ‘m extending my practice next year to include group sessions and developing a website so that contact is easier.
I love your site Katy and truly thank you for being the beautiful being you are. xx
